Ryder Cup hostilities broke out a week early at the Tour Championship on Friday with Tiger Woods and world number one Justin Rose sharing the halfway lead after a pulsating second round in Atlanta. In the time since that 2013 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational he has endured four surgeries on his back, weathered a two-season span where he started just one tournament, been arrested for DUI and undergone subsequent treatment, and wondered whether he would ever play golf again.

He has never lost an official tournament when leading by more than two shots and has won 54 of the 57 PGA Tour events in which he has held the 54-hole lead. Woods's 80th PGA Tour success, if it comes, will unquestionably be his most significant.

It will be the first time Woods and McIlroy (66) play in the final group Sunday on the PGA Tour.

"I've gone through a lot this year to get myself to this point, and understanding and fighting my way through it", Woods said.

"It was insane out there for sure, but it's fun", Rose said of playing with Woods.

He likely needs to finish in the top five to be assured of winning the FedEx Cup and the $10 million bonus. I always feel I start the year a little bit behind everyone else because I have to go over to Europe.

Why the Rafale Deal, as Predicted, has Blown Up in The PM
The former French President Hollande has rarely been taken very seriously in French politics and by leaders of the outside world. He pointed out that Hollannde who is not in office any longer was under no serious political compulsion to make the remarks.

Woods had started the day tied for lead with Rose on seven under par but made a blistering start.

Rory McIlroy will go head to head with Tiger Woods on the final day of the Tour Championship with his eyes on the prize, as excitement builds for a mouthwatering climactic battle.

"I don't have to shoot 63 or 64 and hope I get help". He says while he's had good moments with the putter this year, it's finally coming together at East Lake. He was 12-1 before this weekend. He closed the front nine by leaving right an 11-foot putt for par and birdied just once on the back nine, a three on the par-four 12th set up by a 143-yard approach that stuck within eight feet.

'It's the flawless place for me to open my campaign, ' he said in January, 'but the landscape has shifted dramatically. His flop shot didn't get up the hill and rolled back toward him, and his next pitch was a bump-and-run played to perfection that kept him from another double bogey. "And with my wedge game right now, a pretty high percentage I would have got that up-and-down". "I was hitting it absolutely dead flush, the putts I was hitting were going in and from there I just tried to hang in there". He even replaced Woods as the face of the EA Sports golf franchise that year.

The American Kyle Stanley and Spain's Jon Rahm were tied for fourth on six under with Paul Casey, Billy Horschel and Tony Finau a shot further back. Woods has had multiple chances this season to complete the comeback and he's come up short each time.
