For now, though, it appears that Butler will start the season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, despite the fact Butler requested a trade three weeks ago.

According to an ESPN report, Butler practiced with the Timberwolves on Wednesday.

The Timberwolves have had talks with several teams since Butler made the request - including Miami - and almost got a deal done with the Heat over the weekend.

The rumblings have been that there hasn't been too much of a market for Butler beyond Miami, which makes sense, because giving up players and picks for someone who can hit free agency at the end of the year is awfully risky. Yesterday, Butler reportedly informed Wolves coach Tom Thibodeau that he still wants to be traded, per The Athletic's Shams Charania and Krawczynski. Was I brutally honest? Yes. Butler told ESPN the Timberwolves are not being truthful with him.

As told by Reusse, Butler and Wahlberg became friendly in 2013, when Butler was still playing for the Bulls and Wahlberg was filming "Transformers: Age of Extinction" in Chicago.

The Timberwolves did not practice Thursday after Wednesday's eventful session with Butler. Butler even led Minnesota's third-stringers to a win over the starters.

Butler said all of Nichols' information was accurate but added, "it's not about money". I'm not going to take offense. I think that we have guys here that if he's not here, we can play with.

During Wednesday's practice, Butler reportedly "left teammates and coaches largely speechless" as he dominated the gym in every way. This came only a few hours after Butler ended his hold out from the Wolves and returned to a practice in which he went nuclear on just about everybody. I'm OK. I know the truth, I know what I did, I know who I am to my core.

So where do we stand in the Jimmy Butler trade saga seven days from opening night? Either way, man, I love Jimmy.
