Riyadh should reveal all truth about Khashoggi murder: Turkish FM

Trump said in his first extensive comments on the topic that the "cover-up" by had been poorly executed by Saudi Arabia, which had denied for weeks that it was involved in Khashoggi's murder before coming clean.

She initially said that she would be interested in taking him up on the offer - if the United States "makes a genuine contribution to the efforts to reveal what happened inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul that day, I will consider accepting his invitation".

The killing of Khashoggi and Saudi Arabia's shifting explanations for what happened after he entered the kingdom's consulate in Istanbul on October 2 have focused attention on Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's missteps and raised questions among critics about whether he's fit to succeed his father, King Salman.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, who Ms. Cengiz praised, has urged Riyadh to disclose who ordered the murder and prosecutors have prepared an extradition request for 18 suspects from Saudi Arabia. "We agreed that when we have more clarity. we will try to find a unified European solution or reaction from all member states of the European Union", German Chancellor Angela Merkel said, referring to the sale of arms to the kingdom.

"Let's not let money taint our conscience and compromise our values".

Saudi prosecutors said Mr Khashoggi's murder was premeditated, changing the country's account again to try to ease global outrage.

Defence Secretary Jim Mattis, who spoke at the conference earlier in the day, promised the United States would seek to hold accountable those responsible for the death, though he did not mention Saudi Arabia by name. "I want to know the details of who is responsible".

Ms Cengiz emotionally said: "President Trump should help reveal the truth and ensure justice is served".

"The administration is weighing different options and we'll make an announcement about what the decision of that action is", Sanders told a media briefing in response to a question about what actions the administration might take against Saudi Arabia. "Jamal was my beloved fiancée, but he was also a gentle human being, a loving man, a journalist and a true believer in democracy and freedom in the Arab world", she said.

Al-Mojeb, the prosecutor visiting Istanbul, was named attorney general by Saudi King Salman past year after a palace shakeup that saw Prince Mohammed sideline his elder, more experienced cousin, Mohammed bin Nayef, for the title of crown prince.

"I believe the Saudi regime knows where his body is", she told the audience at the service, sponsored by the Middle East Monitor and Al Sharq Forum.
