You can order the new MacBook Air starting today and it ships next week. The all-new MacBook Air features a 13.3-inch Retina display (2560x1600 pixels) with a 16:10 aspect ratio. Among other changes, the size and weight of the enclosure have also been decreased, two Thunderbolt 3 ports line one edge, screen bezels have been reduced, and new color options are available.

Apple has ditched the previous USB slots and the SD card slot and replaced it with two Thunderbolt 3 ports instead. "I doubt anybody expected something different on ports ... as there should be consistency", says Creative Strategies analyst Carolina Milanesi.

The keyboard is the all new, redesigned, 3rd generation keyboard with Butterfly mechanism. Those perforations aren't just for show, either; they house speakers that are 25% louder and deliver two-times the amount of bass than that of the previous MacBook Air, according to Apple.

That most recent previous model started at $999 for a 13-inch machine, and $1,199 for a 15-inch.

The new MacBook Air has the "latest generation keyboard", which has four times the stability over the previous generation. Not only are the bezels now black (like on iMacs and MacBook Pros), but they are also 50 percent smaller. At 2.75 lbs, it is a quarter pound lighter than the previous version.

We got a few minutes to try out the new MacBook Air after Apple's launch event on Tuesday.

The body of the MacBook Air is all-aluminium, it is 100% recycled. Apple has launched a new updated MacBook Air, almost 3 years after it last updated the laptop, that has a Retina Display and TouchID.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel will not seek re-election
Of the SPD, he added: "A party on the way down can not suddenly rise from the ashes by going into the opposition". The clear victor of Sunday's state polls is the Green Party , in another repeat of the recent Bavarian election.

Oh, and it comes in gold now, too. The MacBook Air also features Touch ID. The sensor is embedded in the keyboard and comes paired with Apple's T2 security chip. The T2 also features an SSD controller with on-the-fly data encryption for everything stored on the SSD. The new MacBook Air weighs only 2.75 pounds.

It comes with up to 1.4 terabytes of storage and up to 16GB of Ram. A $1,399 (roughly Rs. 1,02,900) model was also detailed, which has much the same specifications, except 256GB SSD storage.

All of that with pretty much the same battery life promises as before - up to 12 hours of web browsing.

But whether the new MacBook Air goes on to achieve the same level of mainstream success as its predecessors remains to be seen. While we are handing a lot of devices down as parents, there may be an extra desktop computer or older gen tablet that you're ready to trade in.

From its inception to today, the MacBook Air was always billed as a lower-power device - it's practically in the name.

Apple has heard your cries for a MacBook Air refresh and the company has finally delivered. The MacBook Pro starts at $1,799. There's little doubt in my mind that this MacBook Air will be Apple's new best selling model, taking over from its outdated predecessor which never lost that crown.
