Lions trade wide receiver Golden Tate to Eagles

Last year, he caught 92 passes for 1,003 yards and five touchdowns.

The 30-year-old Tate is also one of the best yards-after-catch receivers in the league with 285 yards after the catch - No. 13 in the league, but No. 3 among receivers.

How the Lions sell this trade will be interesting, as they're only a game out of first place, have no clear candidate to step up into the slot WR role and there was still a sense they could re-sign him after the season. That might explain the scenario that unfolded when he chastised a reporter for his posture, and asked him to be more professional. We are not going to sit on our hands. He's a hard-working, determined guy with a lot of passion and a lot of energy.

Say what you will about Tate, but if anything he's going to shrink the team's time of possession differential with his big-play ability, as opposed to shortening the game with some well-timed rushes up the middle (that's far from a bad thing). The bye week certainly helps.

Saudi prosecutors said Mr Khashoggi's murder was premeditated, changing the country's account again to try to ease global outrage. A Saudi Arabia's flag flies over the country's consulate in Istanbul, Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018.

And hey, at least they're not the Cowboys, am I right?

Lions general manager Bob Quinn issued a statement about Tate. It's more about players, it's about relationships. "I talked to Golden at length yesterday. We wish Golden and his family the very best in the next step of his career".

The Detroit Lions are now just one game back of first in an NFC North division that has been plagued by inconsistent play from top to bottom, but they have not ruled out selling off at least one key piece before Tuesday's trade deadline.

A sort of wide receiver logjam had surfaced in Detroit prior to the trade.
