"I have beaten this North Korean opponent in the Asian Championships previous year and that time it was a one-sided bout".

"I have worked hard and am prepared well for my bout", she said.

In the bout, Mary kept dominating from the first round itself and never gave her opponent any chance to counter-attack forcing the jury to unanimously rule in her favour.

"The country and the fans want a gold and I am also trying a gold".

"I have beaten her in Poland".

The North Korean's USP is her aggression and quick movement as one witnessed on Tuesday when she pummeled her South Korean opponent, Chorong Bak, who was a favourite before the quarterfinals.

Along with Mary Kom, three other Indian boxers in Lovlina Borgohan, Sonia and Simranjit Kaur entered the semi-finals and guaranteed at least four medals in the Worlds, already the best ever in recent times.

Equally important will be Lovlina's performance as India will hope for the young pugilist to progress into the next round.

Before this World Championships, the Manipuri was tied with Irish legend Katie Taylor (five gold and a bronze) on the number of medals won.

She will be up against Chinese Taipei's Chen Nien-Chin, whom she had lost in the CWG earlier this year.

"I was inexperienced last time when I took on her. But once inside the ring, I don't care whether my opponent is tall or not, I play my game and once I know hers, I do my own", she added. It was an AIBA poster with Mary Kom's life-sized cutout on it, a regular presence at the K D Jadhav Indoor Stadium as well as the surrounding Indira Gandhi Sports Complex. "This experience will help me as I will prepare for Olympic qualification", said Lovlina.

Another North Korean, Asian Games silver medallist Son Hwa Jo, who beat the accomplished Sonia Lather in the Asiad this year, will challenge Sonia Chahal. "But both of us know about each other's style, but I am confident of winning because I have worked with the coaches on strategies", said Sonia. Simranjit and Sonia also went through strenuous practice session with focussing more on punches and footwork. "I did watch some of the video clips to know her style of boxing", Lovlina said. In tomorrow's semifinals, bouts in five weight categories - 48kg, 54kg, 60kg, 69kg and 81kg - will take place while the remaining five are slated for Friday.
