Boca had requested for CONMEBOL to suspend the game, which is the second leg of the final, for a second time after their team bus was attacked by River fans on Saturday.

A bus carrying Boca Juniors players came under attack by River Plate fans in the Belgrano neighbourhood and objects thrown by supporters shattered the vehicle's windows.

"After the acts of violence suffered in the vicinity of the stadium, Boca. requests the suspension of the game, as well as the application of the corresponding sanctions provided in Article 18", Boca said in a statement on their website.

The rescheduled second leg of the Copa Libertadores final between River Plate and Boca Juniors was postponed again on Sunday hours before it was due to start, after Boca complained the match could not be played under fair conditions. With the tie deadlocked at 2-2 from the opening-leg, River vs Boca will have to wait for another day.

The Xeneizes asked that River be punished for the bus attack, which left several of their squad members visibly distressed and veteran striker Carlos Tevez protesting that his teammates were unfit play.

"Yesterday evening, Boca requested the game be postponed due to the incidents and it was agreed that the priority was for the match to be played on a level playing field". The decision led to violence inside and outside of the ground with at least 30 people arrested, according to local media.

Football in South America is sometimes a violent affair, and in Argentina, no fans have been allowed to attend away matches since 2013 after violence claimed the life of a fan.

"We want immediate action from the authorities and will help to identify, capture and prosecute those responsible". How do you take this decision now?

"This hurts me a lot", said Juan Angel Oviedo, 24, "because of everything that's happening in this country".

Dates between December 8th and 10th have been suggested as a new time to play the game. "What we've lived through has nothing to do with a Libertadores Cup final. regardless of whether it's against River or any other team, both teams have to reach the final under equal conditions".

Another issue which needs addressing is that if the final doesn't go ahead at River Plate's Estadio Monumental, it could take place at another neutral venue and behind closed doors.
