The Saudi crown prince's visit to Algeria has drawn criticism from political and academic circles in the North African country.

"Our relationship with Saudi Arabia is important to this country, but that does not prevent us from putting forward robust views on these matters of grave concern", she said. "[Jamal] believed that MBS is the issue and he said this kid should be stopped", Abdulaziz said in an interview with CNN.

Khashoggi, an opinion writer for the Washington Post who was at one time a Saudi royal insider before becoming a critic of the leadership, was killed by lethal injection and dismembered by a group of Saudi men sent from the kingdom.

Western leaders are also concerned about the worsening situation in Yemen, where a Saudi-led war has put millions on the brink of starvation.

May shook her head as the Labour leader said she had "asked nicely" for him to investigate the murder and not to use the weapons sold by the United Kingdom to Saudi Arabia in the war in Yemen.

During the visit, the Crown Prince met Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia and other high-ranking Algerian officials.

Khashoggi's killing has put mounting pressure on Riyadh and MbS, who Turkish officials - and reportedly the Central Intelligence Agency - have concluded ordered the critic's death. Saudi Arabia has led a boycott of the tiny Gulf state since a year ago.

Messages obtained from the WhatsApp account of murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi shine a light on the possible reasons behind his death, depicting the full extent of his animosity towards Saudi Arabia and his plans to establish an "electronic army" of activists against the regime.

"These are good personal relations", Peskov said commenting on the exuberant handshake before the summit's plenary session, which came under the spotlight.

The crown prince also discussed investments and economic partnerships with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Algeria's energy minister Mustapha Guitouni said last week that global oil prices would not be on the agenda. The CIA has told lawmakers that it has medium to high confidence that Prince Mohammad ordered the killing.

"There is no final decision on volumes, but together with Saudi Arabia we will do it", Putin told reporters about extending the agreement in Buenos Aires.

After receiving word from Saudi Arabia that authorities had seen messages between the pair, Abdulaziz informed Khashoggi who simply wrote back: 'God help us'.
