Samsung and Verizon announced on Monday that they will bring a 5G smartphone to market in the first half of 2019.

Computer Vision ISP: This is the world's first, according to Qualcomm, which will enable computational photography and video capture features. For starters, artificial intelligence (AI) will play a big role with the Snapdragon 855, with its fourth-generation multi-core AI providing a 3x uplift in performance compared to the Snapdragon 845. To take advantage of this, however, devices must be able to support 5G connectivity. The publication also reported that Samsung was in discussions with Verizon about a possible exclusive agreement for distribution in the United States. Following that debut, the new Android flagships should hit the market by late March after a brief pre-order period which will likely see more incentives than what Samsung has been offering past year seeing how the Galaxy S9 line ended up having relatively underwhelming sales.

Meanwhile, Samsung's chief competitor Apple is purportedly in no rush to incorporate 5G network speeds to its best-selling iPhone line-up.

The Galaxy S10 will not be the only 2019 phone to make use of the Snapdragon 855 chip.

Wilder Open To Possible Rematch vs. Fury
Wilder (40-0, 39 KOs) is coming off a victory this past March over Luis Ortiz in which he had his loyal fanbase a bit anxious . Wilder, the more aggressive of the two fighters early on, quickly moved into an early lead.

In addition to its announcement of the Snapdragon 855, Qualcomm today introduced the 3D Sonic Sensor. Under the hood, it will come with Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 710 octa-core processor backed by a sumptuous 6GB RAM, 64GB (or more) storage, Android Pie and a 3,400mAh battery, which should be enough to keep the device running for a whole day under normal usage.

As of the time of this report, the conference is still ongoing and we are still expecting the official announcement of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. T-Mobile is now in the process of deploying its own mobile 5G network, and there's every reason to believe Verizon and AT&T are quietly doing so as well at this point. But it's also likely that the next Snapdragon chip from Qualcomm will power the remaining Galaxy S10 models. As of now, there is no information regarding the Snapdragon X50 Modem (whether it will be integrated or not).

What hasn't yet been revealed is how the overall CPU and GPU performance has increased, how much more efficient it is than the previous generation, and how all of these changes will manifest themselves in real-world use-cases. Safe to say we're looking forward to getting our first Snapdragon 855 devices in hand and seeing what Qualcomm's flagship chipset can do.

"AI doesn't just happen on one core", Katouzian said. The event runs from December 4 - 6, so we can expect to get a look at the cutting-edge technology any minute now.
