Ohio State says the 54-year-old Meyer is retiring from coaching and co-offensive coordinator Ryan Day will take over after the Rose Bowl.

We will update this story as more information becomes available.

Urban Meyer announced his plans to retire as head coach of Ohio State's football team on Tuesday afternoon in a press conference.

Meyer, 54, is 82-9 in his seven seasons with the Buckeyes, winning three Big Ten titles, and one national championship in 2014.

When he left Florida, Meyer cited health concerns as the main reason. He has a cyst in his brain that causes severe headaches.

She noted that many young people and adult men were being left behind and others still only get tested after becoming ill. Human rights, including the right to health, must be upheld at all costs to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030.

Ohio State released some of the documents that its special committee used in its investigation, including text messages that raised doubt about how forthcoming Meyer was when news of Smith's past transgressions first came to light this summer.

Buckeyes athletic director Gene Smith tweeted in September that Meyer would be the head coach for "quite some time", following a report that linked Day to the job. He has three national championships on his resume - one at Ohio State in 2014 and two at Florida in 2006 and 2008 - to go along with two undefeated seasons (2004 at Utah, 2012 at Ohio State).

But the loss to Purdue weighed too heavily and Ohio State finished at No. 6 in the playoff rankings. The decision comes after a season in which the university suspended him for three games and he revealed that he was suffering from a cyst in his brain. As the 2017 victor of the most prestigious award in college football, Murray's former teammate, Baker Mayfield, is now a lifetime Heisman voter.

"I thought he was very good in the classroom, teaching me the offense and the system, breaking it down and making it very simplistic where I would be able to understand it and translate it to the field", Murphy said. Prior to becoming a head coach, Meyer served as an assistant at Notre Dame (1996-2000), Colorado State (1990-95), Illinois State (1988-89) and Ohio State (1986-87), where he learned under mentor Earl Bruce. "[Brian] Kelly, Coach Meyer, everybody has been eyeballing him since he was a young graduate assistant". He's one of the highest-paid college football coaches because he's enjoyed nothing but success at Ohio State.

"He will not be back in coaching" Herbstreit said on SportsCenter this morning. He coached wide receivers in 1987. But just like at Florida cracks began to emerge at Ohio State.
