Since his last match at the Royal Rumble, there have been rumors as to the status of CM Punk in WWE. Reportedly, CM Punk had been displeased with – among other things – the creative direction WWE was taking.
On Thursday, fans appear to have received their answer. With his contract officially run out, CM Punk’s profile was removed from WWE.com’s current roster to its alumni roster. For now, it appears as though CM Punk’s tenure in WWE is over.
Responding to fans that included the hash tag #ThankYouPunk on their twitter, Punk wrote:
Nope, thank YOU. Thanks for all the help and support through the years. Health and happiness above all. Don’t ever take s*** from anybody.”
Regardless of what circumstances led to his removal, Punk’s twitter post points towards a respectable man grateful for the fans that helped him. Having held the WWE Title Belt from November 20th, 2011 until January 27th, 2013, Punk is recognized as the longest reigning WWE Champion of the modern era, and the sixth longest reigning champion of all time.
