Hey everyone!  Drew Koscelek here with another episode of The NXT Report!  We kick off with a recap of Charlotte winning the NXT Women’s Championship at Takeover.  Highlights of Summer Rae’s return, and win as the #1 Contender.

We go to the arena, and The Ascension are heading to the ring.

NXT Tag Team Champions The Ascension (Konnor & Viktor) vs. “Local Talent”

Lockup with Viktor and the dude wearing Vandal on his pants.  He hits a backdrop, then tosses him into his partner.  The other dude gets tagged in and runs away.  Konnor and Victor chase him outside.  Back in the ring, Konnor shakes his head at him after a chop, then nails a shoulder block.  Kicks in the corner.  They’re really toying with him.  Tag in, Fall of Man, it’s over.

Winners: The Ascension

Literally a squash match.  The audience was into it.

Tyler Breeze vs. Mojo Rawley

I can’t wait to watch Rawley get destroyed.  Anyhow…

Breeze talks trash and Mojo attacks him.  Breeze suckers him in and nails the Beauty Shot out of nowhere.  It’s over.  Tyler Breeze wins.

Winner: Tyler Breeze

That was disappointing.  Shorter than most Raw matches.

NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte vs. Summer Rae

Summer Rae comes out first.  Our champ is second.  It’s a push match.  Charlotte mocks Summer’s dancing.  Summer’s not amused.  Cat fight!  Both ladies get slammed face first into the mat.  Charlotte unloads with kicks to the gut.  Figure Four Headlock, rolling into slamming Summer head first into the mat.  We go to break.

Back from break, Charlotte is screaming about her beautiful face.  Charlotte rolls her through.  The action spills outside and Summer gets the advantage.  She rolls Charlotte back into the ring for a pin.  Two-count.  Summer gets angry.  She locks in a body scissors on Charlotte.  Charlotte rolls her into a pin attempt for two.  The fans start chanting “Boring” here.  It’s not really holding my attention either.  Anyhow, Summer goes for the leg, locking in a weak looking crab.  Charlotte bites her.

The fans start doing a wave.  Summer Rae and Charlotte hit each other with clotheslines and they’re both down.  Roll-up attempt and a spinkick for a near fall by Summer.  Charlotte hits a knee and a chop, followed by a clothesline.  Two-count.  Charlotte takes out the legs, hits her with her finisher, and it’s over.

Winner:  Charlotte to retain the NXT Women’s championship

This match never really got out of first gear, but I don’t think it was as bad as the fans made it out to be.

We get a video package about Alexa Bliss, highlighting her abilities.  Good package, except her music sucks.

The Vaudevillians (Simon Gotch & Aiden English) vs. Kalisto & Sin Cara

Kalisto and English start it off.  Lock up.  Kalisto gets the better of it.  Renee Young talks about the three spikes on Kalisto’s mask.  Nice touch.  Tag to Sin Cara and some flashy teamwork from the two.  One-count pin.  Springboard cross-body from Sin Cara.  He goes for a second one and gets dropkicked.  English goes for a cover.  Tag to Gotch.

Gotch unloads with blows across the chest.  Gotch wrenches the neck.  Tag to English, neckbreaker.  Sin Cara hits a surprise rollup into a one-armed powerbomb.  Really impressive.  Hot tag to Kalisto and Gotch.  Kalisto is all over the place.  Flip into an enzuigiri.  Nice stuff.  Sin Cara goes diving through the ropes onto English.  Kalisto hits his finisher on Gotch for the win.

Winners: Kalisto & Sin Cara

Kalisto is super-impressive looking in my opinion.  I can’t wait to see him on the main roster.

NXT Champion Adrian Neville vs. Rusev (w/ Lana)

Adrian Neville comes out first.  Lana introduces Rusev from the ramp.  Typical stuff from her.  Yay Putin.  Rusev waves his flag.  He takes the mic and says he’s the super athelete.

Neville goes for the quickness early on.  He flips out of Rusev’s attacks, but Ruseve catches him and knees him in the ribs.  Fallaway slam.  Rusev lays into Neville with kicks and elbows.  Rusev sizes up Neville in the corner.  More kicks.  He sits Neville on the turnbuckles and kicks him again.

Neville gets some momentum and takes out the knees.  He nails kicks to the chest.  Rusev powers out and slams him to the mat.  He misses in the corner.  Neville hits a springboard dropkick.  Lana distracts the referee in the corner, and Tyler Breeze runs out to distract Neville.  The ref doesn’t see it.

Neville is able to fight through the distraction.  He kicks Rusev in the face and heads up for the Red Arrow, but Breeze yanks the leg.  The referee calls for the bell.

Winner: Adrian Neville via DQ

Rusev immediately attacks and locks in The Accolade.  Neville taps, but Rusev doesn’t release.  Lana enters the ring and orders him to release.  He stands over Neville tall as Tyler Breeze looks on.

Good match, but the finish was predictable.  Rusev is being protected, Neville is the champ.  That being said, I enjoyed the matchup.  It’s good to have Neville working with a variety of opponents.

Mediocre show tonight overall.  Skip it.

Thanks for reading, folks!
