I'm going to be brief, but I'm a little disgusted by this past week's events. And I know I'm in the minority, but I don't care.
WrestleMania was mediocre at best, with the 'Taker/Punk and HHH/Lesnar matches being the best of the bunch. But there's no real surprise there. I wasn't expecting one of the best shows of all time, but I'd like to see a little bit better.
My main beef has to do with the group often referred to as the "WWE Universe." First off, the fans proved that the Hall Of Fame ceremony should be held in private. I don't care if you don't like Maria Menounos. I don't care if her speech went on too long. I don't even care about Donald Trump and the celebrity wing of the HOF. The WWE sends out a letter to everyone attending how to appropriately act during the ceremony. Even Jim Ross blogged that there were some classless "tools" there. It's unacceptable. Show some respect.
That brings me to Monday. The fans were beyond rude and disrespectful. I realize they paid money and have the right to shout out things that they want. But be a little more respectful. If you really hate so many of the WWE wrestlers, why even pay all of that money to go to the show? You'd be better off spending your money elsewhere. And whatever happened to the days when the crowd cheered for the good guys and booed the bad guys, no matter where they were on the card? I can understand respectful cheers for guys like CM Punk, but I think most fans are doing it now just to be spiteful of the whole company.
I'm angry mostly because the whole show became about them. And that's all anyone was talking about afterwards. The performers go out there on a nightly basis and work their asses off and nobody was even talking about them or paying attention to them. And don't even get me started on Fandango. I still don't get the appeal of this guy. A few weeks ago people were booing him out of the building, now he's becoming a cult icon. I wasn't impressed with his WM 29 performance and I don't like the gimmick. The WWE has enough dancing goofballs.
