Show Open in Buffalo, NY

Opening video package, then the broadcasters Tom Phillips and Byron Saxton check in.  They hype up that John Cena will be appearing to address Bray Wyatt.

Match #1 - Dolph Ziggler vs. Jack Swagger (w/Zeb Colter)

Colter is on commentary for this one.  They recap Adam Rose making his debut last night on Raw at the expense of Jack Swagger.  Colter vents about how Real Americans aren't rude like Rose was.  Ziggler hits a really nice drop kick early, then hits a wild bump off the apron and down the steps.  He sells out on the floor as they go into a break.

After break, Ziggler is on offense. Swagger catches him in the Patriot Lock.  Ziggler kicks him off and hits a Fameasser as Swagger comes off the ropes.  Ziggler comes up lame and Colter likes it.  Ziggler comes back moments later with a DDT.

Adam Rose's music hits and he comes to the ring with the Rosebud.  Colter calls them misfits and asks if they were leftovers from the Rocky Horror Picture Show.  Rose leads the group to Zeb and lays on the table.  Colter backs away. Rose gets on the mic and tells Swagger "it's party time all the time.  Don't be a lemon, be a rose bud."  Ziggler capitalizes on the distraction and hits the Zig Zag to win.

Afterward, Rose gets in the ring and asks Ziggler if he knows what comes with being a rosebud.  "Everything, Dolph."  The dancing starts again and Ziggler joins in.

I wondered if they already went for a turn on Rose, but they didn't.  Colter on commentary was really good.  Still too soon to tell on the Rose gimmick.  Not soured on it, but it's not quite clicking yet.  They need the bus.

The announcers hype up that John Cena will be on the show tonight to address Bray Wyatt.

They hype up Sheamus making a title defense this Friday on Smackdown.  No opponent was listed.

Match #2 - Natalya, Cameron and Naomi vs. Aksana, Alicia Fox and Tamina

Cameron and Natalya are arguing about losing "Louie" (Natalya's cat) as they recap that situation from Total Divas.  Alicia Fox and Natalya start off and Natalya tries to go for the Sharpshooter early on.  The announcers hype that Triple H will announce Sheamus' opponent for Smackdown in the weekly interview tomorrow.  Off the distraction from Tamina, Alicia gets in some offense and a cover for two.  The heel ladies take over the offense.

Late in this one, Naomi checks in.  She hits her signature spots and pins Aksana.  After the match, Natalya and Cameron jaw back and forth at each other.

The bickering was all about the Total Divas story.  Not sure where it will lead...nor do I care.

They run the Mr. T. "Mother's Day" video package.  Then they run the Raw Rebound, which focuses around the story that went on between Kane and Daniel Bryan last night.

Match #3 - Goldust (w/Cody Rhodes) vs. Curtis Axel (w/Ryback)

Goldust makes his entrance before they send it to a break.  Rybaxel comes out after the break as the announcers talk about the friction between the brothers, with the two having apologized to each other.  Goldust controls in the early going, getting a two count at one point.  Axel gets in a move that drops Goldust, and that allows him to take control.  Axel wears Goldust down, hitting a drop kick then locking on a headlock to wear him down some more.

Goldust starts to rebound, hitting a big spinebuster.  He goes on a run, hitting his upper cut, an atomic drop and ten corner punches.   He snaps off a powerslam for a near fall.  Axel manages to dump Goldust to the floor.  Cody hits Ryback with the Disaster Kick.   Back in the ring, Goldust hit the Final Cut to pick up the win.  The Rhodes brothers celebrate as the announcers recap it.

A solid and straightforward match with no issues between Cody and Goldust.  The announcers ask

They hype up John Cena's response to Bray Wyatt live on Main Event later tonight.

In-Ring Segment:

John Cena's music hits and he emerges to his standard mixed reaction.  He turns to the camera and says "This is Main Event, and this is the WWE Network!" before he charges the ring.  They run a video recap of the end of his match with  Bray Wyatt at Extreme Rules.

He calls Wyatt's tactics "Interesting, from an interesting man"  For months Cena has tried to tell everyone how dangerous Wyatt is.  He says he can't make anyone listen and if they want to follow the buzzards, they can.  Fans should have the power to make up their own minds.  He says if they all want to join the Family, he will let them go.

"But when you follow the Buzzards, what are you following?"  He asks the Wyatts what they believe in.  Is it the song...and he sings a few bars.  He says it's catchy and asks if fans know where it came from.  He asks if it's the masks and says they're fun.  He points out that Adam Rose has a lot of people with masks and it's a party all the time.  He asks if it's Wyatt himself, putting over his charisma.  He asks if anyone has listened to what Wyatt says.

He runs a clip where Wyatt says the world will be burnt down, and rebuilt in his image.  People will remember him for what he is, a God.  Back live, Cena asks what the fans believe in.  In life, if you don't stand for something you are assured to fall for anything.  He hypes that he wears his beliefs on his shirt, hat and shoes.  He says "my name is John Cena and I am not a god, I am a man.  I am a man who still believes in respect, honor and hard work."  He says despite the odds you never give up.  He says he's a man who realizes he might have to fight Wyatt alone, but he was raised to fight for what he believes in.

He says the competition might change, the color of his t-shirt and the fans themselves might change, but his resolve will not.  "Even if I'm the last man standing, you never give up."  He says this is his message and what he believes in.  He holds up a towel bearing the words "Never Give Up."

I'm not a fan when John Cena does that "my name is John Cena" thing...especially when he repeats it more than once.  I will say this, his promo was inspired and designed to rally fans behind him.  He sort of ducked the issue of the creepy little boy at Extreme Rules and focused instead on the message that puts him opposite Wyatt declaring himself a god.

All in all a decent enough edition of Main Event.  The wrestling was sound and John Cena's promo helped advance his feud with Bray Wyatt as we head to Payback on June 1.  Got comments?  Be sure to post them or tweet us @RingRap.
