WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler and his fiancee Lauryn McBride appeared today in a Memphis, TN court for the first time since they were both arrested and charged with domestic assault this past Friday morning. According to a report by WMC-TV, the judge has ordered the couple to not have any communication while the case is pending and established a July 1 hearing date for the charges.
Neither Lawler nor his attorney made any comment to the media today, though Lawler did speak to WMC-TV on Friday from jail. McBride’s attorney Mark Mesler told WMC-TV that the July 1 hearing will be when a course of action for the case will be determined. “On that day decisions will get made about whether this case can be settled, whether it can be dropped, whether we are going settle, go to trial or a hearing,” Mesler stated. He also noted that the terms established by the judge “may seem unusual, but those are standard bail conditions in a domestic violence case.”
Bill Says: It got floated out there that WWE may part ways with Lawler over all of this, but it’s worth reinforcing that it’s rumor and not fact. One thing for sure, WWE will not be bringing him back to television until after July 1 as he is indefinitely suspended. More on the case as it unfolds.
