Ring of Honor posted to their website that Roderick Strong has advised ROH officials that he will be leaving the company following the television taping on Saturday, June 24 in North Carolina. This will end his 13 year run with the company. He noted to officials that he plans to pursue other opportunities.
Strong has been dubbed “Mr. ROH” by many and has been a recognizable face of the promotion for his run with the company. Strong teamed with Austin Aries to win the ROH Tag Team Championship in 2005. He had two runs with the Ring of Honor Television Championship first by defeating Jay Lethal in 2012 then again in October of 2015. In September of 2010, Strong had his one and only run as the ROH World Champion by defeating Tyler Black (now known as Seth Rollins in WWE).
Strong in a statement said the following to thank the company and fans:
“I want to be able to personally thank everyone, from the new fans that just found ROH, to the fans that have followed me from the beginning. Ring of Honor is more than just a company to me. It’s my family, I started as 20-year-old kid just looking for an opportunity to learn and grow as a performer. Now I stand here after 12 and a half years loving it just as much, if not more than when I came in. I want to thank you for your patience as you watched me grow over time. I want to thank you for the cheers, the boos and the passion you showed me. Most importantly I want to thank you personally for always supporting the greatest company in the world, Ring of Honor. I hope to see everyone this Saturday in Concord”
Strong’s final ROH appearance will be at the Cabarrus Arena in Concord, NC where ROH will be taping more television events. If you attend the event, we would greatly appreciate a live report.
