Late on Tuesday night after the WWE Draft was over, WWE announced that the commentary teams for Raw, Smackdown, Main Event and Superstars are being revamped. In an article on WWE.com, the new broadcast teams have been announced as follows:
Raw: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, and Byron Saxton
Smackdown: Mauro Ranallo, JBL, and David Otunga
Main Event: Tom Phillips and David Otunga
WWE Superstars: Tom Phillips and Corey Graves
There was no mention if the NXT broadcast team of Phillips and Graves was going to remain the same or change in light of both men getting main roster show slots.
Bill Says: One immediate observation here is the exclusion of Jerry Lawler. He was not mentioned in the article and clearly is not on any of the shows. I wonder if he will be replacing Corey Graves on the pre-show panel, since he already has that role on the pay per views. I like bringing Graves into the mix. If they don’t saddle him with a lot of overproduction and let him be himself, I think he brings a fresh new voice to Raw that the commentary has sorely needed. I would rather have seen Graves paired with Ranallo, but I’ll take this. Drew and I will discuss this and all the Draft related news tonight on Ring Rap Audio.
