We’ve talked at length on the site about Brock Lesnar’s drug testing issues coming out of UFC 200. In a report that is posted on TMZ.com, WWE has noted that they will not suspend the former WWE Champion for those testing issues.
In the report, a WWE spokesman said that “WWE’s talent wellness program does not apply to part-time performers such as Brock Lesnar.” In the window of time between 2014 and 2016, Lesnar has only worked 19 matches, while the average WWE talent works over 200 matches a year as a full time talent.
Bill Says: The company’s wellness policy makes certain exclusions for part time talent, so I’m guessing that Lesnar (along with others such as Rock, Undertaker, and Triple H) is probably not even tested. It’s also worth commenting that in the TMZ article, a “well connected source” said that WWE is show business more so than athletic competition. No one is really up in arms that I’ve seen that Lesnar is going to appear on Raw next Monday, but down the road this could get WWE in some hot water if their Wellness Policy falls under some scrutiny.
