WWE Confirms Injury to Finn Balor; Says Surgical Consult is Scheduled

In a release on, the company confirmed that the new WWE Universal Champion Finn Balor injured his right shoulder last night at SummerSlam.  The injury happened during his match with Seth Rollins when he was sent into the barricade by a running powerbomb.

In the statement, WWE Dr. Chris Robinson noted that “he hit the wall during the match, dislocated his shoulder and was able to put it back in himself in a split second.” Balor finished the match, but the results of an MRI taken earlier today indicated that he may have “a possible labrum tear.”  There were reports that Balor was wearing a sling last night, but in his appearance on Good Morning America on Monday morning he was not wearing one. is noting that Balor will be receiving a surgical consult to determine how extensive the injury is and what his recovery time will be.

Obviously, much more to come on this developing story, including how it affects the newly awarded Universal Championship.
