Former WWE announcer and employee Joey Styles was fired from EVOLVE following the EVOLVE 72 iPPV event, which was also being streamed on the FloSlam platform, for inappropriate humor on air.
During the show, Styles used some inappropriate humor related to President-Elect Donald Trump. He complimented Rose on her appearance tonight, saying “Joanna, you look great tonight, and if our next President were here tonight, he’d want to grab you by the…” Styles went on to fill in the gap by saying that the word he intended to use is what EVOLVE manager Stokely Hathaway is, which indicated he wanted to use the word “pu**y.”
Gabe Sapolsky, WWN Live VP of Talent Relations, was not at all happy and did not wait long to act, taking to Twitter to comment:
FloSlam, who was streaming the broadcast, also spoke up on the matter on Twitter:
Bill Says: For those not familiar, the “grab her by the…” comments were from a 2005 conversation Donald Trump was involved in and were used by the Democratic party during the recent Presidential election here in the United States as a character attack. Whether in the context of the election or in general public conversation, they’re not appropriate – even more so in the type of promotion Gabe tries to run. I guess time will tell if this is a work, but I strongly suspect not. A Reddit user said he was in attendance and saw Gabe’s reaction in person – and it wasn’t pretty.
