We’re always looking for reports from any live events our readers are attending – whether they be ROH, WWE, NXT, TNA, or any other independent group you might be a fan of. If you attend an event, feel free to send in your results and opinions to us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll post them up. Thank you to site reader Pete who sent the following in from the WWE live event that took place in Broomfield, CO on Friday, February 3.
The event took place at First Bank Center, and it was roughly half full if I had to guess (so something like 3,300 people or so). Mike Rowe helped host the night along with JoJo.
New Day def. The Shining Stars and Titus O’Neil. Lasted somewhere around 12 minutes or so. They finished off Epico by Big E and Kofi doing their Midnight Hour combined finisher. Kofi got the pin.
Neville (c) def. Cedric Alexander to retain the Cruiserweight Championship. This was a really good match. Neville got the win by submission.
Sin Cara, R-Truth and Goldust def. Jinder Mahal, Bo Dallas, and Curtis Axel. Not a terrible match from the job squad. Truth did a roll from over the top rope to get the pin on Axel.
Braun Strowman def. Sami Zayn. I’ve seen how Strowman is improving, but I just don’t know if they should be pushing him as hard as they are. This was the weakest match on the show, with Strowman pinning Zayn in about six minutes with a powerslam.
Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson hyped their tag team championship match for later in the night with a promo on the screen.
Lana came out to get the crowd angry, as well as Enzo and Cass. Dear god, she’s gorgeous. Anyhow, the crowd got on her nerves, and she introduced Rusev.
Big Cass (w/Enzo Amore) def. Rusev (w/Lana). At one point, Lana got tossed for interfering by grabbing the official. Enzo had ratted her out for slapping Cass. Rusev argued with him, but turned around into a big boot from Cass for the finish.
Bayley def. Charlotte by DQ in a Women’s Championship Match (Charlotte retains). Dana Brooke ran out to interfere, which caused the DQ. Alicia Fox then ran out for the save but Nia Jax ran out to deal with her. That brought out Sasha Banks, complete with a crutch, to chase off the heels. Charlotte, Dana and Nia were about to leave when Bayley got a mic. She told them “no way are you going to come in and ruin my title chance, get back down here and let’s have a six-woman tag match.”
Bayley, Sasha Banks, and Alicia Fox def. Charlotte, Nia Jax, and Dana Brooke. A decent tag match that Bayley won by pinning Charlotte after the Bayley to Belly.
Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson (c) def. Sheamus and Cesaro to retain the Raw Tag Team Championship. This was fine, with the heels going over after Anderson raked Cesaro’s eyes and schoolboyed him.
JoJo introduced Kevin Owens, who yanked the mic away. He said he had good news and bad news. He said the bad news is that we live in Bloomington, CO. JoJo leaned in and corrected him and he said he didn’t care if it was Bloomington or Broomfield, he would still leave tonight with the Universal Championship. He said Mick Foley told him he had a street fight tonight, but didn’t know who the opponent was. JoJo introduced Big Show (or “Slim Show” as Bill calls him…) for the match.
Big Show def. Kevin Owens in a non-title Street Fight. Owens bailed right away and tried to get Mike Rowe to help him, but he wasn’t having it. Each man destroyed a table. Show hit a chokeslam, then did it again through a table to get the win in a match that lasted about 20 minutes or so.
All in all, a good show and I was entertained all night long. The only match I didn’t care for was Strowman vs. Zayn.
