As noted in the Ring Rap Audio show and in other prior reports this week, Drew Galloway recently decided to leave TNA Impact Wrestling rather than sign a new deal. Galloway spoke out in an interview with The Scottish Sun to discuss why he decided to leave the company.
Galloway told the paper that TNA wanted to position him as a top wrestler in Europe, the UK, and United States, but they took too long to reach out to him about the deal.
“They came to me last week with an offer and it was very very good one, one of the best in the company and a position as top guy but the reality is that because they waited until the last second I had to turn it down.
Everything was so last minute. I had to to think about back-up plans and family because it went to the wire.
I was surprised I got no heads-up beforehand and when they got in touch last week they wouldn’t accept no for an answer and the financial offer was great so it was a very hard decision to make.
If all of this was said three weeks ago I would have signed.”
Galloway added that he felt WWE or any of the bigger companies would love to have him, but wanted to explore all of his possibilities.
“I started wrestling at 15 and signed with the world’s biggest company by 21, and then had to rebuild myself again. But I’m in a unique position where I’m still young enough to have a long career.”
Galloway also noted that he’s going to take his time deciding his next move.
“I’ve worked my ass off and knocked it out of the park as a free agent so it’s my time now. It has to be the right offer and in the end, I’m not a young kid anymore. WWE was my dream at 21, but these days it’s all business.”
