Report: Jack Swagger Has Requested His Release from WWE

Jack Swagger, a former WWE World Champion, has requested his release from WWE.  He made the comments on Chael Sonnen’s podcast, saying that he hasn’t been given opportunities within the company.

Swagger has been with WWE since 2006, when he signed a developmental deal.  He was pushed all the way to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in 2009.  He won Money in the Bank at Wrestlemania, then cashed in to win the title.  He also had time partnered with Zeb Colter (Dutch Mantel, now on creative at TNA Impact Wrestling), which led to him challenging for the World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania 29.

He has not been without his issues though, getting arrested in 2013 for marijuana possession, DUI, and speeding following a WWE television taping.  He received six months’ probation and was fined $500, and the marijuana charge was dismissed.

Swagger is still listed on the company roster page as of this writing.  He has not been seen on television in months after being ‘traded’ from Raw to Smackdown in the early days of the new brand split.
