In a report that came out first on the Brazilian news site Combate, the UFC has booked Kelvin Gastelum against Anderson Silva for UFC 212. That card will take place on June 3 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janiero, Brazil.
Gastelum (14-2) is riding a three-fight winning streak after scoring a first round knockout against Vitor Belfort at last week’s Fight Night event in Brazil. The 25-year old Gastelum asked for the matchup after that fight, saying he wanted to continue his “legends ass whipping tour” against Silva.
Silva (34-8) recently posted to social media that he wanted rematch fights against Nick Diaz and current UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping. He will turn 42 next month, and is coming off a controversial decision victory over Derek Brunson. The victory was his first official win since 2012.
The fight will take place on a card that is expected to be headlined by Jose Aldo (26-2) against Max Holloway (17-3), which will unify the UFC featherweight championship.
