Paul Heyman appeared on “The Fight Society” podcast recently to discuss a number of topics. One of the topics that came up in discussion was the conversation about Ronda Rousey appearing in WWE, and whether she had cooled off following two straight stunning UFC losses. He doesn’t believe the losses affect her stature if she were to cross over to professional wrestling.
When Rousey appeared at Wrestlemania 31 in a promo segment involving The Rock, Triple H, and Stephanie McMahon, the reaction was strong from the live crowd. When she locked Stephanie in an armbar and hip tossed Triple H, the fans ate it up. But she was on the back side of a 14-second title defense against Cat Zingano and riding high.
Heyman has been in pro wrestling for 30 years and has seen many come and go. He believes that Rousey could still have a place with the company. Heyman said:
“I think the WWE audience would embrace Ronda Rousey with open arms. Just her name recognition alone is huge. It doesn’t matter, her past two experiences in the UFC. All that matters is if she got involved in a story that people could relate to and sink their teeth into and get excited about.”
He even went so far as to lobby to be an advocate for her, as he is for former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar:
“I think Ronda Rousey doing anything in WWE is a natural fit. I’d love to see it and would be happy to discuss with her all the benefits that she could enure by being a Paul Heyman girl.”
