In a post on, the company today announced the formation of a women’s wrestling tournament that will happen this summer.  The tournament will include “32 of the top female competitors from around the world” and will air on WWE Network.  The news was confirmed at “WWE Reimagined,” a presentation held at a business partner summit in Orlando, FL.

This tournament comes on the heels of two other highly praised events – the Cruiserweight Classic and the UK Championship Tournament – that spotlighted talent from around the world.  Talent from 17 different countries are expected to participate in the event.

Raw Women’s Champion Bayley, Smackdown Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss, and NXT Women’s Champion Asuka were all on hand for the announcement, as was Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.  Triple H also broke the news via Twitter, with the tweet shown below:

No official date or talent listing was given at the event.  We will continue to update you with that information as it becomes available.
