Drew McIntyre (aka Drew Galloway) interviewed with ESPN.com after his surprise appearance in the crowd at NXT Takeover: Orlando, and has confirmed that he is, in fact, returning to WWE.
McIntyre has indicated that he will be going to NXT. “I’ve won championships all across the world. I’ve helped build brands. So what’s the next logical thing for me to do? It’s to come here and win the NXT title.”
He continued, “If that’s not clear enough for everybody, Drew McIntyre has signed with NXT.”
McIntyre left WWE three years ago, while he was a member of 3MB, which was a comedy team. After leaving the company, he hit the ground running, rebuilding his name on the indy scene, and held titles in nearly every company he worked for, including TNA as their World Heavyweight Champion, EVOLVE as the EVOLVE Champion, WhatCultre Pro Wrestling as their current WCPW World Champion, and many other titles.
No timeframe for his start as of yet. We will provide an update as we hear more info.
You can read the entire interview at ESPN.com.
UPDATE: WWE.com has also confirmed the news, and included a short video interview with McIntyre as well.
